Put Cork on It, Go Green

25 10 2007

Hi, there!

We just wanted to share a fun cork project by green guru Danny Seo with you, which was recently featured in Country Home Magazine (October 2007 issue).

In the magazine article, Danny mentions: “Feel good using real cork; it’s a renewable resource harvested from the cork oak tree.”

To view the project, click here.

We were wondering if any of you might also have interesting ideas on how to incorporate cork into our daily lives and not only benefit from its beauty and warmth, but also be good to the environment. Readers?

Best…

I am a big fan of reusing cork whenever possible. I gave Danny Seo’s Tin Can Project a try and was very happy with the results. Recently I finished a Homemade Cork Board project with old wine corks. It was an easy project to complete and the final result looks very cool. I also did a bit of digging around and posted some other cork suggestions suggestions on my blog in the same post. I was most surprised to learn that you can sell your own wine corks on ebay.

Your Dad’s present turned out beautiful. It’s functional and extremely elegant. Thanks for sharing!

BTW, we took a peek at your new Wicanders’ kitchen floors—they look fantastic—very radiant in those photos. You should enter your home into the Born of Nature Awards, the monthly prize is an Apple iPhone and the grand prize is a trip for 2 to the Montado (cork oak) forests in Portugal.

p.s.: Did you do any kiwi carving for Halloween this year?
